ATV CORP. INTRODUCES NEW 'PROWLER':
LIGHT ISR COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM
FAYETTEVILLE, NC, June 18, 2002 -- All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Corporation
today unveiled its newest Prowler, a Light ISR Communications Platform
engineered to provide a singular combination of speed, range, maneuverability
and reliability in rugged terrain. The new Prowler was introduced
at NDIA's Special Forces Expo 2002.
The Company said its latest Prowler was designed to add a new dimension
to current tactical, assault and support capability concepts and
is complementary to existing larger, heavier platforms.
Prowler can be easily adapted to a wide range of tactical mission
and support requirements because of the configuration versatility
of its 350-pound payload and half ton towing capacity. The Company
cited, for example, the Prowler's suitability for use as a Microponder™
platform, serving as a point designator for accurate aircraft ordinance
delivery, outlining precise drop zones or performing as a pathfinder.
This vehicle's hallmark all terrain performance -- agility, stability,
endurance and nimble handling -- is the result of Prowler's:
- powerful 660 cc., 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine
- fully automatic 4 wheel drive transmission
- low center of gravity, tight turning radius, and ample (12")
ground clearance
- front and rear independent wishbone suspension system
- dual front disc brakes and rear shaft braking system
Because of its small dimensional envelope (approximately 7'x 4'x
5') and light weight (795 lbs.), the Prowler is easily deployable
and recoverable by the widest range of surface and aerial means.
In addition, Prowler's ease of operation is enhanced by familiar
automotive-style controls and engineering for minimal maintenance.
ATV Corporation's Prowler, a COTS product with worldwide logistic
support in place, is currently in production. Two-person and unmanned
versions of this new vehicle concept are in development.
