From Mass Storage to Max Transit ISR

Phoenix International is a COTS supplier of mass storage products in VME, RAID and JBOD form factors. But lately, the company has leveraged its COTS electronics success into the related surveillance, reconnaissance and communications area through its All Terrain Vehicle Corporation subsidiary. The light ISR Prowler all terrain vehicle is intended for deep penetration into unforgiving territory while providing maximum tactical mission and support options (Figure 3). Prowler was recently introduced at NDIA’s Special Forces Expo 2002.

The Prowler is powerful, light (795 pounds) and small (approximately 7' x 4' x 5') and deployable via the widest range of surface and aerial platforms. Users can conceivably outfit the platform with an array of active and passive sensors ranging from FLIR, video, laser and RF ELINT. It is also conceivable that future versions could be retrofitted as autonomous or remotely piloted drones, much like current unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) such as Global Hawk or Predator.
